07 Nov Georgia Trust accepting applications for building preservation grants
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTGS) — The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation is accepting applications for a grant program that will match building preservation projects up to $10,000.
The funding from the program is reserved specifically for projects that focus on building exterior preservation. Danielle Meunier serves as the communications coordinator for the Georgia Trust.
She explained the process for the funding.
“Securing the exterior is always going to be the most important, so that’s where this funding is chosen to be emphasized,” Meunier said. “So, making sure that you have a historic building that is airtight [and] weatherproof certainly secures the property so that you can move on to further steps down the road that would include things like the interior rehabilitation.”
The Georgia Trust is accepting preliminary applications in the form of letters of inquiry until Thursday, Dec. 1.
Meunier said they will invite some applicants from that pool to submit a more detailed application which will be due on Feb. 23, 2023.
